The improved personal data control in EU

In May 2016, the new General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) came into force, which will become binding directly and simultaneously for all Member States as of 25 May 2018. The unification of requirements for all countries will enable free flow of data within and outside the EU.

The objective of this Regulation is to give people in the EU control over their personal data and to simultaneously allow the use of personal data by private companies and public authorities by providing the highest security standards.

Slovenia will introduce the GDPR requirements into local legislation by revising the Personal Data Protection Act (ZVOP-2).
